I’m Greet Verhaert, a writer, director and researcher from Belgium. Welcome to my website!
Here’s a little note on my journey:
I started out at the piano, an instrument I’ve always experienced as an extension of my body. To me, playing or listening to music quickly grew into something larger: it awakens a vivid inner landscape where stories, images or emotional movements accidentaly emerge and evolve. I hear images and see music, if that makes sense :).
I hold a Master’s degree in Musicology (Ghent University) and a Master’s in Journalism for Radio & Television (Brussels University), bringing together both of my passions. I connect easily and genuinely with all kinds of people—regardless of their background or role. Real conversations energize me. I’m deeply interested in people’s desires, intentions, life journeys and expertise. That connection is often where a story begins, and I try to translate it with care into something honest, nuanced and true.
For over a decade, I’ve moved between reportage, documentary and fiction, across very different audiences—from the scale of VRT 1 to the more layered terrain of Canvas, and the playful world of Ketnet. Moving between these contexts has sharpened my sense of tone, perspective and audience, while maintaining a consistent voice.
My field of interest is wide. Almost everything sparks my curiosity (with a mild exception for tax systems and car brands). I love to dive deep into new fields. Research makes me feel like an eternal student: it humbles me, keeps my mind open, and confronts me with not knowing. For me, research is not about finding the 'one absolute right answer', but about staying with a question long enough for it to shift.
In collaboration, I value integrity, real connection and a healthy dose of self-irony - aren't we just all trying :) ?
I’m team-oriented, extravert, softhearted, and optimistic by nature, and I tend to bring together analytical depth and intuitive storytelling.
I enjoy collaborating with production companies, directors, writers and showrunners to develop layered, resonant stories, for film, series and branded content.
What about you, dearest reader? I'm curious :).
